The new teacher of The Slow Fashion Innovation Program, Monica Golçaves, is an expert in developing sustainable materials and products.

We have many materials developed by her at the Slow Innovation Brands, the cork yarn is one of them.

Most recently she developed a kind of Banana Leather, as a solution for those looking for vegan leathers.

We are proud to be the first ones to put this new banana leather to sell.

Our price is very competitive for an exclusive and innovative sustainable fabric. The square meter is costing only 30 euro + IVA. Be the first one to work with this new raw material produced in Portugal.

All this process is 100% handmade and made with 100% natural materials. The main concept is the reuse and application of the bark of the band with the aim of reducing the consumption of animal skins and reusing 80% of food waste, which shows a very significant value.

The banana peel also does not go into decomposition which also prevents the release of gases. During this process, She was able to learn and affirm that in the medium / long term it will be possible to produce more leather with banana peel as a complement to the textile sector.

Besides the application of the banana peel it is possible to affirm that we could still create by-products with the water used in the shell cleaning process, as it becomes rich in potassium which has a high potential for the cosmetics and fertilizers industry.
